Shahzad Aryobee has been serving as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Czech Republic since September 26, 2019. Born in 1980 in Paktia province, Afghanistan, Mr. Aryobee is married and has five children. With a career spanning over two decades, Mr. Aryobee has held several high-ranking positions. From August 2017 to September 2019, he served as the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and as the Executive Chairman of the Afghan Telecom board in Kabul, Afghanistan. In 2015, he was appointed General Director of Asan Khedmat—a one-stop shop for public services—under the Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, where he successfully implemented electronic services (e-services), a groundbreaking initiative in public services. Mr. Aryobee began his career as a technical officer and field representative at UNOCA/MIS offices in Islamabad, Pakistan, and Mazar-i-Sharif and Gardez in Afghanistan. He later worked with UNDP/AIMS, USAID/CPD, and the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs in collaboration with the World Bank’s Capacity Building for Results (CBR) program. Academically, Mr. Aryobee holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the CEVRO Institute in Prague, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and a diploma in Information Technology. He has also completed several professional courses in computer science, project management, and results-oriented programming. Furthermore, he is a United Nations-certified language professional, with fluency in English, native-level proficiency in Pashto, and fluency in Dari. He also has a working knowledge of Urdu and Deutch. Outside his professional commitments, Mr. Aryobee has been actively involved in Afghanistan’s civil society, human rights activity and youth organizations since 2001, contributing significantly to the country’s social and cultural development.
